Gap Year with Benjamin Laufer from Headscratcher Podcast
Thursday Aug 01, 2019
Thursday Aug 01, 2019
When Benjamin Laufer decided he wanted to take a gap year, he thought that using the extra time he had to contemplate and learn about the world would really help clarify the world and what might really interest him. As he researched and dove deep into more and more topics he found he had even more questions and "Headscratchers" than ever before.
He is an incredible example of what can be achieved if you structure your time, set up great lifetime habits, and work dilligently to acheive your goals. Living each day with intent he has found progression to be an organic change rather than a forced one. We think this has made him so ready to start his new chapter in life! We loved learning about the positive changes he was able to achieve, and what he's doing now to share with others as he figures out life in his own podcast "Headscratcher".

Tales from Teens with Skyler, Halli, and Ayisha
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
These 3 friends share with us the experiences that have shaped them the most in their teenage years. These fun girls have taken on so many teams, experiences, and responsibilities you'd be amazed at everything they have been involved in. BUT we love how real they are about how hard that can be when everything piles up on you. They amazed us with their willingness to be vulnerable with each other and with us. We are so blessed to have teens that are opening up with each other and with us about what they are going through and what they are experiencing.

Small and Simple Things with Dan Beardall (ENCORE!)
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
This episode is such a fun episode with some extremely doable takeaways to make change for the better in your life. It's remained one of our favorites...and one of our fan favorites so we wanted to make sure our new listeners had a chance to listen. Tawni interviews her husband, Dan, to talk about the importance of the small decisions in our lives. There are a handful of large, 'life' decisions we make over the course of our time here on Earth - but thousands of smaller, everyday decisions that can build up over time and potentially determine our happiness (or misery!). We talk about the importance of understanding how little decisions can have a big impact, and discuss examples that illustrate this truth.

How Becoming Began with Erica and Tawni
Thursday Jul 11, 2019
Thursday Jul 11, 2019
I surprised Tawni with an impromptu interview...which she would not have chosen...she loves to prepare. I wanted her to share her story of how this podcast came to be. I think it's a beautiful story...and one that I hope gives you a little glimpse of the love she truly has for you. YES YOU. Her story is as impactful to me as any of the interviews we've done and it is inspiring to see how she's changed and taken her opportunity to BECOME. I also asked her to share a favorite moment from doing the podcast these past 9 months...we can't believe it's been that long...but here we are!

Be NICE...Let's Talk About Bullying with Ashley Romney from The Power Of One Girl
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
Bullying is a hot topic...no doubt. There is a lot of discussion to be had on this, but it is still extremely difficult to navigate. Everyday circumstances pop up, and each situation that falls under the umbrella of bullying still has so many individual details it is so hard to teach exactly what to do in every scenario. We are so excited to have Ashley Romney, from Power of One Girl, to share what she teaches high schoolers about this subject. We wanted to make sure that we covered what to do when you find yourself being bullied, witnessing bullying, and what you can do to change if you find yourself being a bully. Bullying is not just for the classic bully...we might find ourselves in all of those scenarios in a single social encounter.

Tales from Teens with Maodan Tohouri
Thursday Jun 27, 2019
Thursday Jun 27, 2019
Maodan Tohouri is a 15 year old from California. When you hear this episode you may think that that was a typo, because she has the maturity of a well educated counselor or psychologist, with interests and passions that are extremely impressive for a teenager. Maodan is sharing what she's learned after experiencing a cycle of heightened anxiety, coupled with a drive to accomplish even more...which continued until she really needed to slow down and take inventory of what was really important to her. Redefining success and learning how to check in with herself to create a much healthier practice in her life. She taught us so much, and we were blown away by her gift of being able to share her thoughts and feelings.

I Will Not be Influenced with AJ Packard (ENCORE!)
Thursday Jun 20, 2019
Thursday Jun 20, 2019
There have been times we have been led to reach out to certain guests or friends about different topics...and this episode was definitely one that I had no idea what I was getting into. I was completely blown away by the lessons that AJ Packard shared with me about changing his habits in his life. His life became something he never would have imagined it could be. He allowed passion to enter his life, and cutting out the influence of drugs and alcohol just happened naturally without setting out to make those changes. As he was able to reflect more clearly on who he was and what he wanted to become, he could not ignore what that change had allowed him to accomplish.
This episode has remained one of our favorites because it truly has very powerful lessons that every person should take the time to learn. This episode originally aired December 6, 2018.

Procrastinating? The real problem may be overwhelm!
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
Do you ever feel like there is so much going on in your head that you can't even focus on one thing? So many projects, deadlines, lists, to-do's, how can you fit it all in and where do you start??? When we feel this way, we tend to be much less productive. Overwhelm is real! It is an intense feeling that can be difficult to navigate.
Overwhelm is not from your to do list...but from what you are thinking about your to do list. The overwhelming feelings cause us to feel even more paralyzed, we find ourselves more and more rooted in the sense of inability to take action toward the things we look to build in our lives. This is why it often presents itself in our lives as procrastination.
Teens might get a bad rap for being procrastinators- but we believe it is all stemming from overwhelm! You are capable, smart, and incredible. In this episode we are going to talk all about the feeling of overwhelm to help you understand it and move through it. Thank goodness we have Sara Payne, a certified life coach that we've asked to come back on the podcast, to walk us through what to do when we feel overwhelmed.

We love hearing from teens, and what they've learned from their individual experiences. We are amazed over and over at the ability teens have to teach us about simple truths that they've learned through their experiences. Today we have 3 friends Amber, Bodell, and Gracee. They are talking about what they do for fun in their small town, what they have found challenging as teenagers, and are sharing what they would tell their Freshman selves if they could go back in time. If you know a teen or young adult that would help other teens by sharing their story...please let us know!
