I'm God's Favorite with Shana Blackburn
Thursday May 30, 2019
Thursday May 30, 2019
Have you ever heard of confirmation bias? Confirmation bias is a psychology term used to help explain why we naturally favor information that confirms our preexisting beliefs or biases. We are always seeking proof that further backs up our beliefs while discounting examples that don't support our idea. We do this without even recognizing that we are doing it! For example: You may have heard that left-handed people are more creative than right-handed people. Whenever you encounter a person that is both left-handed and creative you may place greater importance of this "evidence" that supports that thought you already believe. On the other hand, when you meet a creative right-handed individual you may just discount or overlook this experience entirely.
In this episode Tawni discusses with her dear friend Shana Blackburn, many fun and interesting examples of confirmation biases and how they can really impact your life. When you look for something you are going to find it! This can be dangerous if our biases are focused on something negative. Whatever we choose to focus on you will find evidence of. Shana is a wonderful example of using positive biases to impact her life for good. She explains how she can use her personal mantra of: "I'm God's favorite", so freely and undoubtedly. It was so insightful and inspiring to hear how her positive attitude has helped her overcome very difficult situations in her life. She encourages us all to look for evidence that you too are God's favorite child! When we look for him in the details of our lives we will always find him.
"What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine your create." Budha

I Love Me with Hannah Setzer
Thursday May 16, 2019
Thursday May 16, 2019
Today's interview reminds us of what an absolute miracle life can be. Our guest today is a very special 28 year old woman named Hannah Setzer. Hannah was born with a rare cyst condition and has been defying the odds since the day she was born. She is 100% fed by a feeding tube and relies on a trach to breath. Her parents were told that she wouldn't live and if she did, she would never walk or talk. Yet Hannah kept defying the odds and continues to be a walking, talking, beautiful miracle. Hannah has many health difficulties but has never let it stop her from achieving her goals and motivating others. She runs a fitness account @feedingtube.fitness that encourages people with all ability levels to stay fit and move their bodies every day. She is full of light and has the most beautiful and fun perspective on life.
One of the reasons why we love Hannah so much is that she has taught us what it looks like to fully and completely love our bodies. She has shown us that everyone should love their body exactly as it is.
Hannah has her masters degree and is a disabilities rights advocate for the state of Virginia. Because of her experience in this field we were able to discuss how best to interact with people with disabilities or physical differences. We can discover how we are all more alike than different and can grow meaningful and loving relationships with people of all abilities.
We have learned so much from Hannah and absolutely love her, we know you will too!

Success can be defined in many ways. In today's episode you will hear a couple of different perspectives on how to overcome adversity and find your definition of success. When you don't make a sports team, or get that scholarship you were hoping for, the next steps you take can be very defining in your life. Throughout our interview with Cody Weight (former University of Utah cornerback and team captain, as well as CEO of Solitude Homes), we were inspired by his example of having the tenacity that is necessary to fight for your dreams; on and off the field. He taught us how patience and perseverance are key to overcoming adversity. His road to success has never been smooth, but failure and disappointment are necessary for us to succeed in life. The fundamentals and grit that we learn through sports can absolutely play a role in prospering in the business world. It is amazing to learn how this correlation has continued to help Cody thrive in his career and family life.

Sometimes we have an opportunity to borrow the strength and drive of another person. As we hear their story and their personal path, it builds a strength within us so that we can have the drive and the passion to be braver, and bolder, and know ourselves more. We all need to be reminded that we can and should have dreams and goals. Christian Knudsen is sharing with us his remarkable story of his childhood in an impoverished three-house village in Ghana to where he is today. His dreams and goals got him through more seemingly impossible life roadblocks than anyone would have ever believed he could overcome. He is sharing his personal story and his unique message to dig deep into yourself to find your passion. To know your WHY. When you know that WHY you need to Do Your Why.

Thursday Mar 28, 2019
Thursday Mar 28, 2019
Are you ready for part 2 of the interview with the amazing Natalie Norton?!? Do you think that you are the person you are right now because of your innate gifts that you were naturally born with or have you developed your unique personality and perspective because of your life experiences? I love Natalie's response to this question and I hope that it will help you be able to reflect on what you believe to be true for yourself. Natalie helps us understand that God has a greater perspective for our lives than we do for our own. After listening to this episode we hope that you feel and know that God is FOR us. He wants us to be joyful and happy in our lives; EVEN when we have experienced deep loss and heartbreak. She gives us tips to be able to learn how to feel that joy again without guilt. We also learn how to move forward without living in fear of what tragedy may come next.
Have you ever wondered what you could do when a loved one is going through a tragic loss? You will be able to hear great advice to this question as well.
We end every interview with asking our guests what advice they would give their high school self. Wait and hear the wonderful words she would have told herself!
