The Atonement Is for Teens with Kristen Walker Smith
Thursday Jul 23, 2020
Thursday Jul 23, 2020
We have never specifically covered the topic of the atonement on this podcast. Our guest Kristen Walker Smith has an incredible lesson that shares why the atonement is so perfectly FOR teens. She talks about 5 specific ways that teens face such a difficult time in their lives, and may be at risk for distancing themselves from God. When we really understand this, we can run toward him and use the atonement to its fullest potential. This message is simple, and beautiful, and true. Christ is enough for you. We promise.

This month's SUMMER OF ENCORES episode is one of our top downloaded episodes ever. It's a listener favorite, and one of our favorites.
Tony Overbay has always wanted to do a podcast episode just for teens...to give them a look inside the minds of their parents. Today he is doing just that for you! So often you may feel like your parents just don't get you! They might say things like "you can talk to me about anything" that you just don't quite believe, or know that doesn't always turn out to be a great discussion.
Tony is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist...with years of experience in therapy and is here to give YOU the tools to start to change the mood in your relationship with your parents. It definitely is something that takes effort from both sides...but did you know that you, as the teen, have more power than you might think to help train, and teach your parents to listen to you and hear you! Tony is here to help you figure out the answer to the question..."WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR PARENTS?!"

I'm God's Favorite with Shana Blackburn (ENCORE!)
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
This episode is one of Tawni's FAVORITES! It's the episode she tells any new listener to start with. We knew we had to encore the episode to share it with our new listeners!
Have you ever heard of confirmation bias? Confirmation bias is a psychology term used to help explain why we naturally favor information that confirms our preexisting beliefs or biases. We are always seeking proof that further backs up our beliefs while discounting examples that don't support our idea. We do this without even recognizing that we are doing it! For example: You may have heard that left-handed people are more creative than right-handed people. Whenever you encounter a person that is both left-handed and creative you may place greater importance of this "evidence" that supports that thought you already believe. On the other hand, when you meet a creative right-handed individual you may just discount or overlook this experience entirely.
In this episode Tawni discusses with her dear friend Shana Blackburn, many fun and interesting examples of confirmation biases and how they can really impact your life. When you look for something you are going to find it! This can be dangerous if our biases are focused on something negative. Whatever we choose to focus on you will find evidence of. Shana is a wonderful example of using positive biases to impact her life for good. She explains how she can use her personal mantra of: "I'm God's favorite", so freely and undoubtedly. It was so insightful and inspiring to hear how her positive attitude has helped her overcome very difficult situations in her life. She encourages us all to look for evidence that you too are God's favorite child! When we look for him in the details of our lives we will always find him.

Average Is Still Amazing with Lee Ann Norris
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
"Striving for Mediocrity"....WHAT? This is the saying that Lee Ann Norris shared with us that sparked this episode. I mean...doesn't that sound like your not even trying to do your best or be better? That is not what she means. This episode is really all about comparison, stop comparing and just do your thing! Doing your personal best effort in anything, and still being average compared to others, is still AMAZING! What about if you are way below average, but you still tried your best and worked really hard. Yep, still AMAZING! You'll love her fun stories and examples. It's all about finding happiness, appreciation, and joy in your personal efforts...no matter what place you fall in.

Healing From an Eating Disorder with Tony Young
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Back in episode #63- Toxic Perfectionism, we interviewed a young woman who discussed how she struggled with a form of an eating disorder. That episode got a great response and is one of our most downloaded episodes. We knew that we needed to continute to break stigmas and provide a place that we can discuss and dive deeper into difficult topics. We were lucky enough to have the incredible Tony Young open up her heart and share with us the difficutlies of recovering from an eating disorder and all of the life lessons she learned along the way. We talk about how eating disorders are very rarely simply about body image and self confidence, they often stem from somewhere deeper; such as feeling a lack of control in your life. It is important to self evaluate and to find healthy ways to deal with our feelings rather than letting our stress escalate into something harmful and addictive. Our bodies are an incredible gift that we need to love and cherish- we only get one and it is so important to take care of it. In this episode you will learn different ways to educate yourself about prevention and will be able to learn from the many life lessons that Tony was able to pull from this experience even decades later.

Moving As A Teen with Alexa Bevan -TALES FROM TEENS
Thursday May 28, 2020
Thursday May 28, 2020
Your parents sit you down and say..."We are moving". As a teen...pretty sure this was a reoccurring nightmare that my friends and life as I knew it would be ripped out from under me. While many people might love the excitement of starting new...as a teen it might be one of the most challenging changes to navigate. Alexa Bevan is sharing about her moving experience during the middle of the school year. What that felt like, the blessings that she got from it, but also the hard parts. The heart of this episode is so applicable to anyone facing a new challenge or wanting to make friends. We are so grateful to teens that share their story with us!

How Becoming Began (ENCORE!)
Thursday May 21, 2020
Thursday May 21, 2020
I surprised Tawni with an impromptu interview...which she would not have chosen...she loves to prepare. I wanted her to share her story of how this podcast came to be. I think it's a beautiful story...and one that I hope gives you a little glimpse of the love she truly has for you. YES YOU. Her story is as impactful to me as any of the interviews we've done and it is inspiring to see how she's changed and taken her opportunity to BECOME. I also asked her to share a favorite moment from doing the podcast these past 9 months...we can't believe it's been that long...but here we are!
