4 Areas: Intellectual
Tuesday Mar 03, 2020
Tuesday Mar 03, 2020
We were surprised to find how passionate we were about the intellectual category of the 4 Areas to Improve Your Personal Growth Series. The word intellectual can be summed up by how we learn, find truth, and expand ourselves; which is basically what 'Becoming' is all about! We discuss the spritual reasons behind why focusing on growing intellectually is so important as well as all of the temporal purposes. We often think of growing intellectually as traditional education such as school or college; as much as those things are so valuable, education doesn’t begin and end in a classroom. We can learn new skills, we can learn from books, we can seek education and should always seek it. Tawni shares a personal story about how a missed opportunity in college could have prepared her for a future that only God could see for her. We also discuss the growth mindset, as well as talk about different ideas for skills you should think about learning before graduating highschool and leaving home. We hope what you learn in this episode will help open your mind to the importance of growing and learning both temporally and spiritually.

Thursday Feb 27, 2020
As we continue the series, we are following up our intro to the Social Goals with Cami Moss from Real Connections Podcast. Although we have several episodes that really tie in to this topic, we asked our amazingly talented friend to come and share all about making real connections quickly. This skill is something that will serve you for your entire life. Cami Moss has a podcast dedicated to the topic of Real Connections and it's something that she is so passionate about. Her life experiences have guided her to want to teach others about the importance of having those connections, and realizing that it is truly the most important thing we have. We are more "connected" than ever...but are we making REAL connections?

4 Areas: Social
Thursday Feb 20, 2020
Thursday Feb 20, 2020
We are excited to kick off the 4 Areas to Improve Your Personal Growth Series with the Social category. The social aspect of our lives has a way of affecting nearly every other area of our lives. We love this category for goal setting because it touches more lives than just your own. Of course it affects each of us individually as we work on becoming well rounded in this area, but the change that is felt will carry on to influence many more people. Focusing on social skills will allow you to connect with other people so that you can have more in-depth relationships with others, and you will notice your love and compassion for others will grow as you grow socially. In every category we will help give examples and suggestions to help spark ideas for goals that you may want to focus on. We hope that as you listen you will take away the important reminder that God is mindful of you personally and placed you exactly where you should be to learn from, and grow with, the specific people who are in your life.

4 Areas To Improve Your Personal Growth
Thursday Feb 13, 2020
Thursday Feb 13, 2020
We were thrilled when the new Youth Program that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was released; it completely aligns with what we are trying to accomplish here on Becoming. Instead of giving the youth large assignments or specific tasks to accomplish, they have designed a new approach that encourages you to counsel with the Lord about how you can grow in a balanced way. The program is focusing on four main areas of growth which are: SOCIAL, INTELLECTUAL, PHYSICAL, and SPIRITUAL. It is suggested that you seek personal revelation so you can decided how to move forward with setting goals and encouraging growth for yourself in these areas. This new approach is intended to help you discover your eternal identity, build character and resilience, develop life skills, serve others, and fulfill your divine roles as sons and daughters of God.
Tawni and Erica knew that it was important to dedicate a series of episodes based on these four areas. This is the intro to that series. We will be discussing the "WHY" behind this program, and different examples and ideas that have inspired us as we strive to grow personally along with you. We will be doing a complimentary interview to coincide with each topic. We are excited to have you join us as we learn and grow together!

Debunking Myths around Sexual Violence with Public Health Professional Hailey Adams
Thursday Feb 06, 2020
Thursday Feb 06, 2020
Sexual violence is a topic that many of us may feel uncomfortable to talk about. This topic may seem scary, but the more we understand it and are educated about it, the less scary it becomes and more we feel empowered. There are so many misconceptions and myths that surround sexual assault and violence. Hailey Adams is a Public Health Professional that worked with UCASA (Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault) and worked at the Rape Recovery Center on the education team and with the victim advocacy program assisting sexual assault victims. We will be discussing the same material she used in educating students in middle schools and high schools in Utah to help debunk myths surrounding sexual violence. There is so much important information in this episode, whether you are a victim or want to know how to respond when you learn that someone you know has been a victim...this is an episode you should not miss.
If you are a victim of sexual assault please call 800.656.HOPE (4673) to be connected with a trained staff member from a sexual assault service provider in your area. You will receive confidential support from a trained staff member, have someone to help you talk through what happened, and receive information on local resources that can assist with your next steps toward healing and recovery.

Volunteering Abroad in Tonga with Bethany Spackman - TALES FROM TEENS
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
We have another great Tales From Teens episode for you this week. If you have ever been inspired after hearing about humanitarian efforts of others, you will love hearing about this awesome teen and her trip to Tonga. Bethany Spackman is sharing about her humanitarian trip to Tongatapu, where she and 18 other teens built a house for a woman and her grandson who were in great need of help after a devastating cyclone took their home the year before. Bethany not only worked so hard to earn enough money to go on the trip, but then labored and built the home with no experience and very little hardware and necessary tools to do the job. The lessons she learned were so much more than hardwork and practical skills, the love and gratitude that she experienced will forever stick with us.

I don't hold grudges, I remember facts with Tawni Beardall
Thursday Jan 16, 2020
Thursday Jan 16, 2020
Forgiveness is the best form of love. It takes a strong person to say sorry, and an even stronger person to forgive. The power of forgiveness allows you to heal and no longer be hurt by the feelings you are holding within you. Don't be a victim twice. Don't hold grudges, or hold the burden of hate. Choose forgiveness. Choose to be free, and allow healing. This episode is a solo episode by Tawni Beardall.

Intentional Moments with Becca Walker
Thursday Jan 09, 2020
Thursday Jan 09, 2020
The New Year often has us focusing on resolutions, goals, and personal evaluations; but it does not have to be as overwhelming as it sounds. We were thrilled to interview an amazing college student about how she set a couple of simple intentions at the beginning of her Senior year that changed the entire course of that school year. They were so impactful that she continues these nightly practices to this day. Our guest, Becca Walker, took on a challenge to perform a small act of service and record it in a daily calendar. Her other intention was to take a silent moment for herself, and write in a gratitude journal every night. She realized how vital it is to take a little time to be aware of the small moments and blessings that surround us constantly. As she did this, she was able to reflect back on how often she has seen the Lord's hand in her daily life. It was amazing to learn about how this simple practice effected her and increased her positivity and spirituality. These small intentional moments really added up to make a lasting impact.

Toxic Perfectionism with Natalie Reeve
Thursday Jan 02, 2020
Thursday Jan 02, 2020
The pressures of life for young people have never been more overwhelming. The constant feeling of needing to appear, or be a certain way can be so damaging. Perfectionism can live within us all, but when we let it overtake us and shadow our true worth it becomes toxic. Natalie Reeve is sharing her story to let others know that behind a certain exterior, there is always more than what we see. Choosing to be genuine, and embrace ourselves as we are is a choice that we can strive for daily. We are so grateful for the vulnerability that Natalie displayed to share with each of you.
